RAMALLAH, July 15, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces closed Wednesday morning all entrances to the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah.
Sinjil Mayor Mu'taz Tawafsha told WAFA that Israeli forces blocked all main and secondary roads leading to the town using military bulldozers and earth mounds, leaving only one access route serving nearby western villages.
Tawafsha added that Israeli troops also raided several homes in the town, with no arrests detentions or confrontations reported.
The town of Sinjil, located 17 kilometers north of Ramallah, is living under an unprecedented siege, surrounded by Israeli forces on all sides. To the north, there is a gate and a military checkpoint, while to the east, a 1.5-kilometer-long, 6-meter-high barbed wire fence has been erected, seizing 30 dunams of its fertile, cultivated land.
Israeli forces did not stop at surrounding the town with the apartheid fence; they also erected, as is the case in many cities, towns, and villages, a closed iron gate at its main eastern entrance.
Meanwhile, the southern part of the town is witnessing a continuous colonial assault by colonists seeking to seize control of Jabal al-Batin and the archaeological site of Khirbet al-Tall by establishing a settlement outpost under the protection of the occupation forces.
The barrier has also cut off 47 homes from the rest of the town, leaving residents with only a single access point, where Israeli soldiers maintain a permanent presence and control movement through a gate that is opened and closed at their discretion.
