RAMALLAH, June 10, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday barred a Palestinian official from traveling abroad via the Karameh Border Crossing with Jordan.
The occupation authorities prohibited Salah al-Khawaka of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission from traveling to Germany via the Karameh Crossing, also known as the Allenby Bridge or King Hussein Bridge.
Al-Khawaja said he was stopped by occupation authorities at the crossing and held for several hours before being informed of a decision prohibiting him from traveling.
He explained that he had been en route to Germany to participate in a conference organized by the Palestinian-German Friendship Association, which would feature international events backing the Palestinian cause, with the participation of figures and institutions from various countries.
As part of his visit program, al-Khawaja was scheduled to have tours and meetings in several German cities aimed at highlighting the reality faced by the Palestinian people and the violations they endure as a result of the Israeli occupation and settler colonialism, as well as mobilizing greater international support and solidarity for Palestinian rights.
He said the travel ban falls within the framework of Israel’s policy of restricting Palestinians’ freedom of movement and preventing them from conveying their voice to international forums, describing it as a violation of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
