Palestinian succumbs to injury from Israeli strike west of Gaza

GAZA, May 27, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian on Wednesday overnight succumbed to her injury sustained due to an Israeli strike on a residential building, west of Gaza City.

The woman died of her serious injury sustained after Israeli aircraft fired several missiles at a residential building in a densely populated area near Al-Kanz Mosque in the Rimal neighbourhood.

The strike had resulted in the killing of four civilians, including two women, and the injury of five others.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since 7 October 2023, killing 72,803 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 172,855 others. It has destroyed 90% of the Strip’s infrastructure, with the cost of Gaza reconstruction estimated at $70 billion.

Since the Gaza ceasefire agreement went into effect on October 11, 2025, Israel has committed 3,005 violations, killing 910 Palestinians, injuring 2,747 others, and abducting 82 Palestinians. The bodies of 781 slain Palestinians have been recovered during the same period.

In the last 24 hours, the bodies of six slain Palestinians were admitted to Gaza hospitals along with 34 casualties.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
