TEL AVIV, May 24, 2026 (WAFA) – During its ongoing wars since October 2023, Israel has seized territory in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria, marking it with yellow lines on security maps. These occupied areas, totaling approximately 1,220 square kilometers (equivalent to more than 5% of Israel's total area), are described as "security zones."
Following a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip under US President Donald Trump's plan in October 2025, Israel occupies 60% of the Gaza Strip, approximately 220 square kilometers, stretching from Beit Hanoun in the north to Rafah in the south.
The commander of the Israeli army's Northern Brigade, Omri Meshiah, described this "yellow line" as "the current security border of the State of Israel, representing a control that allows us complete freedom of action. We will remain here," as reported by Channel 12 on Sunday.
Aerial photographs show that no building in Beit Hanoun remained intact.
Israel currently occupies 400 square kilometers of territory in southern Syria, where it has established nine Israeli military outposts 15 kilometers from the border in the occupied Golan Heights, and only 25 kilometers from the capital, Damascus.
Israel also occupies approximately 600 square kilometers of territory in southern Lebanon, extending 10 kilometers from the Israeli-Lebanese border. There are five Israeli military outposts in this area, with plans to establish 20 more.
