RAMALLAH, May 24, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Cabinet warned of the serious and rapidly worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as a result of the deliberate reduction in the entry of food aid and the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on the entry of fuel and medical supplies.
The Cabinet stressed that the ongoing bombardment and continuous forced displacement operations are forcing thousands of families to be forcibly displaced under harsh conditions lacking the minimum necessities of life, amid catastrophic humanitarian and living conditions affecting most citizens of the Strip inside overcrowded shelters that fail to meet even the most basic standards of dignified living.
The Cabinet called on the international community, the United Nations, and the mediating and guarantor parties to take urgent action and pressure the occupation authorities to fully and sustainably reopen the crossings, ensure the unrestricted entry of humanitarian and medical aid and fuel, and halt the policy of starvation and forced displacement against our people in the Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, settler terrorism is escalating, reaching a total of 42 attacks over the past five days targeting 12 Palestinian villages. These attacks included arson, vandalism of property, and the establishment of a new settlement outpost on the lands of Jurish, south of Nablus Governorate.
At the same time, Israeli occupation authorities carried out five demolition operations affecting 10 Palestinian structures, in addition to issuing military orders to confiscate more land and threatening citizens of Khan al-Ahmar with forced displacement and mass demolition, despite the international position and the International Criminal Court’s 2018 declaration that the displacement of Khan al-Ahmar citizens amounts to a war crime.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the formation of a founding Board of Directors for the National Fuel Company and tasked it with preparing the company’s legal framework, drafting its opening financial statements, and separating its accounts from those of the Petroleum Authority.
During its 75th session, the Cabinet approved the establishment of a national petroleum company aimed at promoting investment, strengthening the energy sector and market regulation, and diversifying sources of supply.
Cabinet discussed in the first reading a draft bylaw on service fees for express mail transport and distribution licenses, aimed at regulating the sector, ensuring fair competition, improving postal services provided to citizens, expanding geographic coverage, and encouraging electronic payment.
In addition, the Cabinet adopted the recommendation submitted by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to the Ministerial Reform Committee to reassess the roles and responsibilities assigned to gender units, with the aim of strengthening and enhancing their role in integrating gender issues into the plans, policies, and programs of government institutions.
