Occupation forces fire tear gas at residents of Tulkarm refugee camp as they attempt to reach their homes

TULKARM, May 11, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Monday night fired tear gas canisters at residents of Tulkarm refugee camp as they attempted to enter the camp and reach their homes, following reports of the withdrawal of occupation forces from some areas inside the camp.

The incident came after the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Barqawi building near the camp, which had been turned into a military barracks for several months.

This prompted owners and several citizens to head to the site to inspect it and assess the extent of destruction and damage there.

The Head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarm refugee camp, Faisal Salameh, said in a press statement that what is being circulated about the withdrawal of the occupation army from the camp is untrue, calling on citizens not to be drawn into rumours to ensure their safety.

Israeli forces have continued their ongoing aggression on Tulkarm city and its two refugee camps, Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, for the 470th consecutive day, amid a tight siege and widespread destruction affecting infrastructure and citizens’ property, in addition to the forced displacement of thousands of residents.
