RAMALLAH, April 29, 2026 (WAFA) — Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa met on Wednesday at his office in Ramallah with the EU Special Representative (EUSR) for the Middle East Peace Process, Christophe Bigot, in the presence of the EU Representative to Palestine, Alexandre Stutzmann.
The Prime Minister briefed the Special Representative on the latest political developments, particularly the escalation of Israeli attacks and measures in the West Bank, systematic settler terrorism, and ongoing settlement expansion.
He also highlighted the severe humanitarian situation facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip due to the continued violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation and restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, which have further exacerbated citizens’ suffering.
Mustafa reviewed the difficult economic and fiscal situation resulting from Israeli occupation’s policies, including the continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues for nearly a year now, aimed at undermining the functioning of Palestinian national institutions.
In this context, Prime Minister Mustafa called on the European Union to provide increased political and financial support to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and to end to all Israeli measures, including the release of withheld Palestinian funds.
The two sides also discussed the outcomes and significance of the recent meetings of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), and the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held last week in Brussels, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting of the AHLC expected in the coming two months.
They also explored ways to accelerate international efforts to implement UN Security Council Resolution (2803) and other relevant resolutions, intensify humanitarian, recovery, and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and expedite transitional arrangements leading to the reunification of West Bank and the Gaza Strip under the State of Palestine, within a unified legal system and under a single legitimate authority.
The Prime Minister also briefed the EUSR on the Government’s ongoing efforts to implement its comprehensive reform agenda, of which more than 70% has been completed—particularly in the areas of governance, rule of law, transparency, and improving the quality of public services.
He further highlighted the successful conduct of local elections, expressing appreciation for the European Union’s continued support to Palestine across various fields.
For his part, Bigot reaffirmed his rejection of Israeli measures and settler violence in the West Bank, and expressed support for all efforts aimed at advancing the Middle East peace process toward the implementation of the two-State solution.
He also reiterated the EU’s continued support to Palestine, particularly in humanitarian and development assistance, and efforts to solidify the ceasefire Gaza, while welcoming the successful democratic process reflected in the recent local elections.
