Israeli forces detain five Palestinians south of Hebron

HEBRON, March 3, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday detained five Palestinians from Western Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources.

They said that the occupying forces rounded up five Palestinians and assaulted several others in the Khallet al-Farra area.

They added that the soldiers did so since the detainees defended themselves and their families against attacks by Israeli colonists.

Earlier, the occupation forces conducted multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, mostly in the predawn hours, rounding up 28 Palestinians.

In the Jerusalem governorate, Israeli soldiers detained three Palestinians, including a woman, from Abu al-Hileu Bedouin community near al-Khan al-Ahmar.

In the Bethlehem governorate, Israeli forces conducted a raid in Al-Ubeidiya town, resulting in the detention of another.

In the Hebron governorate, Israeli soldiers detained a Palestinian and assaulted others in Sa'ir town for attempting to fend off a colonist attack.

They showed up at two houses in Hebron City, broke in, and detained two Palestinians.

They rounded up another after ransacking his family's house in Deir Samet town.

In the Salfit governorate, the soldiers detained four Palestinians, one identified as a resident of Qarawat Bani Hassan town and the three others as residents of Bruqin town.

In the Tubas governorate, the sources confirmed a raid in Tayasir village, leading to the detention of a Palestinian.

In the Nablus governorate, soldiers ransacked a house and detained another from the Askar area.

In the Qalqilya governorate, a convoy of army vehicles stormed Sanniriya town, where the soldiers detained five residents and ransacked their houses, turning them upside down.

In the Ramallah governorate, the soldiers conducted separate raids in the Jalazone refugee camp and Budrus village, resulting in the detention of nine Palestinians and searching their houses.

The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted without a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping, arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.

According to the latest figures from Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 9,300 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 350 child prisoners and 56 female prisoners.

This number includes approximately 3,358 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, which allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
