RAMALLAH, March 3, 2026 (WAFA) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that the ongoing regional escalation is directly impacting the humanitarian situation in Gaza, with all crossings, including the Rafah border crossing, remain closed.
In a statement, OCHA affirmed that the rotation of UN staff has been postponed, leading to the suspension of medical evacuations and the return of displaced residents, despite efforts to maintain the flow of supplies. It emphasized that the continued complete blockade threatens to halt these operations.
OCHA noted that fuel consumption has been rationed due to dwindling stocks, affecting the operation of bakeries, hospitals, and desalination plants, as well as forcing the suspension of waste collection services. The statement added that some areas of Gaza are receiving only two liters of drinking water per day, amid rising prices of basic commodities.
In the West Bank, OCHA reported that most checkpoints have been closed, hindering the movement of Palestinians and impacting livelihoods, essential services, and humanitarian operations.
OCHA stressed the need to protect civilians and ensure the unimpeded entry and movement of humanitarian aid, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
