NABLUS, February 25, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday evening assaulted and detained a Palestinian from Huwara town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.
They said that a convoy of Israeli army vehicles stormed southern Huwara, where the gun-toting soldiers severely beat and re-arrested a former prisoner.
In the course of the raid, the soldiers ransacked several houses, turning them upside down.
In the predawn and morning hours, the occupation forces conducted multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, resulting in the detention of 27 Palestinians.
As part of these raids, the occupation forces detained two Palestinians as the latter were herding their sheep to the south of As-Samu' town, south of Hebron.
Still in the Hebron governorate, Israeli troops rounded up another from Wadi al-Rakhim in Masafer Yatta. This came after Israeli colonists chased and attempted to assault the detainee.
They also rounded up four others; two from Hebron, one from Ash-Shuyukh town, and one from Adh-Dhahiriyah town.
In the Jerusalem governorate, soldiers manning the Shufat military checkpoint stopped and detained Nawal Hijazi, a journalist.

In a separate raid, soldiers stormed the nearby town of ‘Aqqaba, north of Tubas, broke into a house, and detained an occupant.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted without a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping, arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
According to the latest figures from Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 9,300 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 350 child prisoners and 56 female prisoners.
This number includes approximately 3,358 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, which allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
