Israeli forces detain two Palestinians from southern Hebron

HEBRON, February 24, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday detained two Palestinians from Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation forces showed up at the Huwara community and rounded up two brothers.

Earlier, the occupation forces conducted multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, detaining at least seven Palestinians.

One of the seven detainees, a shepherd, was detained while grazing his sheep in Khirbet Gwein, south of As Samu' town, south of Hebron.

Another of the seven detainees was identified as a resident of the al-Fawwar refugee camp.

In the Jerusalem governorate, the occupation forces detained two Palestinians from the al-Hathrura community near al-Khan al-Ahmar after they appeared before intelligence in the Ma'ale Adumim colony.

Still in the Jerusalem governorate, the gun-toting soldiers showed up at a house in Az-Za'ayyem town, broke inside, conducted a thorough search, and eventually rounded up Amir al-Qaisi, a local Fatah official.

In the Bethlehem governorate, the occupying forces rounded up two Palestinians from Tuqu‘ town and ransacked their families’ houses.

The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted without a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping, arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.

According to the latest figures from Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 9,300 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 350 child prisoners and 56 female prisoners.

This number includes approximately 3,358 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, which allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
