RAMALLAH, February 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Palestinian national and Islamic factions reaffirmed their commitment to national unity and steadfastness in the face of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement issued following a meeting held on Monday to review the latest political developments and national situation, the factions said Israel has continued to violate the ceasefire agreement announced in October through ongoing killings, destruction, and massacres, resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries, while obstructing provisions related to opening crossings and allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
They stressed the need for the immediate opening of the Rafah crossing in accordance with the 2005 agreement, under Palestinian, Egyptian, and European responsibility, rejecting any conditions aimed at restricting movement. The factions emphasized empowering the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out relief efforts in Gaza, beginning debris removal and reconstruction to strengthen resilience and thwart forced displacement plans.
In the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, the factions warned of escalating Israeli actions, including wide-scale incursions, mass arrests, sieges of cities, towns, and refugee camps, home demolitions, infrastructure destruction, and preventing residents from returning, particularly in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps, alongside organized colonist attacks under army protection.
They said the forced displacement of Bedouin communities, especially in the Jordan Valley, east of Nablus, and Masafer Yatta, along with the arming of colonists, constitutes a dangerous escalation requiring urgent international intervention through accountability mechanisms, boycott measures, and legal action against Israel.
The factions also called for a comprehensive national dialogue to develop a unified national strategy that safeguards Palestinian constants, including the right of return, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, while reaffirming the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
They emphasized the importance of holding the upcoming local elections in April and completing preparations for legislative, presidential, and Palestinian National Council elections within a framework of national unity.
Regarding UNRWA, the factions rejected Israeli attempts to undermine or end the agency’s work, reaffirming its UN mandate under Resolution 302 and the right of return under Resolution 194, and called on the international community to provide the necessary financial support to ensure the continuation of its services.
The statement concluded by stressing that the situation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails is a national and humanitarian priority, given reports of killings, torture, and solitary confinement, and called for urgent international action to protect them from serious violations.
