JERUSALEM, January 26, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian Monday evening sustained injury from Israeli army fire on the outskirts of Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, according to local sources.
They said that a sizable occupying force stormed the refugee camp and unleashed barrages of tear gas and stun grenades at young men, injuring one.
They added that the occupation forces expanded their incursion to include the town of Kafr ‘Aqab and Airport Road adjacent to the camp, deploying their vehicles along the main streets and firing sound grenades and tear gas at youths, spreading panic among residents, particularly children.
The Jerusalem Governorate had announced in a statement that the occupation forces stormed several residential buildings and forced the occupants out, and occupied their balconies and rooftops, turning them into sniping posts. The forces also fired tear gas canisters and sound grenades, in addition to live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets.
In the course of the incursion, the occupying forces issued traffic citations to a large number of Palestinians’ vehicles and deliberately damaged others.
Concurrently, the occupation forces tore down sections of Israel’s apartheid wall at the end of Airport Road, allowing the deployment of soldiers on a large scale along Jerusalem Road adjacent to the refugee camp, and on Al-Ma‘had Street and Airport Road, and facilitating the entry of dozens of military vehicles.
The incursion came as part of a wider campaign aimed at imposing tighter security control over areas located behind the apartheid wall, particularly Qalandiya Refugee Camp and Kafr ‘Aqab, which have recently witnessed an escalation in raids and military measures, including road closures and tighter checkpoints.
