HEBRON, January 9, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces briefly detained dozens of Palestinians on Friday during a large-scale raid on the town of Yatta, south of Hebron, and carried out house raids in several areas across the governorate.
WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces stormed Yatta with a large number of military vehicles, deploying throughout several neighborhoods and around homes. Soldiers raided multiple houses and detained dozens of residents, including ambulance crews, holding them for long hours in the town's central square while subjecting them to field interrogation.
Israeli forces also raided the towns of Beit Ummar, Tarqumiya, and Surif in Hebron province, where they broke into and searched a number of homes, ransacked their contents, and later withdrew without reporting any arrests.
Yatta and surrounding towns in Hebron have been repeatedly targeted by Israeli military raids, mass detentions, and home searches, as part of broader Israeli measures across the occupied West Bank that include nightly incursions, restrictions on movement, and collective punishment of Palestinian communities.
