RAMALLAH, December 31, 2025 (WAFA) — The Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) affirmed that the Palestinian people are moving steadily toward achieving their national independence and establishing a fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs, wounded, and prisoners will culminate in the realization of their legitimate national rights.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the launch of the movement and the contemporary Palestinian revolution, Fatah said the Palestinian people will not surrender to projects aimed at undermining their rights. It stressed that the movement continues the path of struggle laid down by the founding leaders and will confront, alongside all national forces, plans of annexation and displacement.
Fatah said it has offered generations of its leaders and members as martyrs for the freedom, liberation, and independence of the Palestinian people, affirming that its cadres and supporters remain on the front lines of steadfastness and resistance against the Israeli colonial system.
It added that the revolution launched by Fatah marked a historic turning point for the Palestinian people and the Arab nation, and that the principles laid down by leaders such as Yasser Arafat, Khalil al-Wazir (Abu Jihad), and Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) continue to guide the movement under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas.
The movement stressed that Israel’s ongoing war of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since October 7, 2023, will not achieve its goal of uprooting Palestinians or erasing their presence. It said the Palestinian people have proven their resilience and that their national cause cannot be eliminated through military force or political schemes that contradict their supreme national interests.
Fatah noted that recent recognitions of the State of Palestine by additional countries constitute an important achievement for the Palestinian national struggle and a result of the sacrifices of the people and the diplomatic efforts led by President Abbas. It called on countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to do so in accordance with international law and the principles of justice, foremost among them the right to self-determination.
The movement also warned against Israeli plans to forcibly displace Palestinian refugee communities in the Gaza Strip and in northern West Bank refugee camps, including Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nour Shams. It said these policies coincide with systematic measures targeting the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, stressing that attempts to erase refugee camps or undermine UNRWA will not succeed in eliminating the refugee issue or negating the reality of the Nakba.
Fatah reaffirmed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast in defense of their rights, unity, and national project, and will continue their struggle until freedom, independence, and the establishment of their state are achieved.
