RAMALLAH, December 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The Japanese Ambassador to the State of Palestine, Araki Katsuhiko, announced a new support package from the Japanese government to the State of Palestine, in direct financial assistance to the Palestinian budget as part of Japan’s supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
The announcement came during a meeting between Ambassador Katsuhiko and Minister of Finance and Planning, Istifan Salameh, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters.
Ambassador Katsuhiko said that, in addition to the $10 million budget support, Japan will allocate $30 million to fund development projects and capacity-building programs, as part of a total support package of $167 million. The remaining funds will be directed towards humanitarian projects in various governorates, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip.
The support is intended to back comprehensive ceasefire plan, enhanc the delivery of humanitarian and relief services, support early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, and strengthen efforts to build Palestinian state institutions.
The Japanese package includes funding for a wide range of projects, including budget support, humanitarian assistance in the health, water and sanitation, food security, and waste management sectors, as well as support for early recovery programs, including debris removal.
The Japanese ambassador emphasized his country's commitment to continuing its support for the Palestinian people during these difficult times and to contributing to stability and sustainable development in Palestine.
For his part, the Minister of Finance and Planning welcomed the Japanese support and the efforts of the Japanese government to bolster the emergency response to the dire financial situation resulting from the continued withholding of clearance revenues, affirming the deep historical ties between the two countries.
