RAMALLAH, December 26, 2025 (WAFA) — The Government Emergency Operations Room for emergency interventions in the Gaza Strip announced on Friday that it has raised the state of emergency and completed preparedness measures to deal with the expected impacts of a low-pressure weather system set to reach the area this evening and last for several days.
In a statement, the operations room said the effects of the low-pressure system are expected to be most severe in the Gaza Strip, given the catastrophic humanitarian conditions faced by residents and displaced people living in damaged and worn-out tents as a result of the genocidal war that has continued for more than two years.
In this context, the government operations room urgently appealed to all international organizations, charitable associations, and municipalities to immediately begin distributing any available tents and shelter materials to help families prepare for the expected winter weather and strong winds.
The statement added that, through its field teams and in coordination with relevant ministries and partner community and international institutions, the operations room will continue to receive emergency appeals and refer them to specialized field crews, making every possible effort to provide assistance within the limits of available resources, amid severe shortages and restrictions on the entry of aid.
The operations room also renewed its call on the international community and all countries to press the Israeli occupation to urgently open the crossings and allow the entry of shelter materials and humanitarian aid, particularly in light of the extremely cold conditions expected in the coming days.
