SALFIT, December 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Dozens of Israeli colonists on Tuesday evening overran Palestinian archaeological sites in the Kifl Haris town, north of the occupied West Bank city of Salfit, according to local sources.
They said that scores of colonists barged their way into the sites in the town under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, who restricted Palestinians’ movement in the town and declared the site to be off-limits to them.
They broke into the shrines of Prophet Dhul-Kifl, the Sufi religious leader Dhul-Nun, and another shrine built by 12th-century Sultan Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi.
Colonists frequently storm the town, attacking Palestinian civilians and their property, as documented by the Israeli human rights organization BTselem.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
