RAMALLAH, August 8, 2028 (WAFA) – The Presidency condemned on Friday Israel’s plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip.
The Presidency expressed its strong rejection and condemnation of Israeli cabinet’s ‘dangerous’ decisions to fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace nearly one million Palestinians from Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip to the south.
The Presidency described this decision as a full-fledged crime that constitutes a continuation of the policy of genocide, systematic killing, starvation, and siege, as well as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and UN resolutions on international legitimacy.
It warned that these Israeli plans, grounded in killing, starvation, and forced displacement, will lead to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and add to what settlement-colonial expansion, annexation of Palestinian land, settler terrorism, assaults on Christian and Islamic holy sites, withholding Palestinian funds, and undermining the establishment of Palestinian state institutions—acts that amount to crimes against humanity and threaten regional and international peace and security.
It stressed that the Palestinian people will remain committed to the realization of their inalienable national rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It said that the State of Palestine decided to hold urgent contacts with concerned parties and immediately approach the UN Security Council to request urgent and binding action to stop Israeli crimes. It has also called for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Council of the League of Arab States to convene urgent meetings to coordinate a unified Arab, Islamic, and international position to protect the Palestinian people and end the aggression.
The Presidency specifically appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene to stop the implementation of the Israeli decisions, and fulfill his promise to halt Israel’s genocidal war on the Strip and move towards lasting peace.
The Presidency called on the international community, the United Nations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to act immediately to ensure unimpeded, unconditional, and urgent entry and distribution of humanitarian aid and fuel to all parts of the Strip.
It reaffirmed that the only way to end this tragedy and guarantee security and stability is to enable the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility for governance and security in the Gaza Strip, as an integral part of the territories of the independent State of Palestine on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and within a comprehensive political solution that ends the Israeli occupation and implements the UN resolutions.
