GAZA, July 18, 2025 (WAFA) – At least eight Palestinians were killed and dozens injured early Friday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to local sources.
WAFA correspondent reported that five civilians — including three women and a child — were killed and more than 20 others wounded when Israeli forces bombed tents sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
In a separate incident, a woman and her son were killed and nine others injured when an Israeli drone strike targeted the al-Hannawi School in northwestern Khan Younis. Meanwhile, a child was killed and several others injured in a strike on another tent sheltering displaced persons in al-Mawasi.
Two more civilians were killed when Israeli warplanes struck the Sahloul family home near Al-Shafi'i Mosque in the western refugee camp area of Khan Younis. Several others were injured in that attack as well.
Simultaneously, Israeli artillery fired shells and carried out heavy gunfire in the eastern, western, and northern areas of Gaza City, intensifying the ongoing assault on the besieged enclave.
According to health officials, at least 56 Palestinians have been killed across Gaza in the past 24 hours as Israeli airstrikes continue across the territory.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 58,667 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 139,974 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
