GAZA, May 24, 2025 (WAFA) – The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since early Saturday has risen to 52, following a series of Israeli airstrikes that have targeted residential areas, commercial sites, and public spaces across the besieged enclave, according to local and medical sources.
In the latest attack, five people were killed and others injured when Israeli drones struck a commercial shop belonging to the Abu Amra family in the Al-Hakar area of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
Simultaneously, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on the northern area of Abasan Al-Jadida, east of Khan Younis in the south, while helicopters opened fire on the eastern outskirts of the town.
In northern Gaza, gunfire from Israeli military vehicles intensified near Al-Awda Hospital, posing a serious threat to patients and medical staff and further exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation, hospital officials reported.
Israeli helicopters also fired on multiple locations in Beit Lahia and northeast Jabalia, amid continued shelling by Israeli artillery.
Earlier in the day, five Palestinians, including four women, were killed when an Israeli airstrike hit the al-Bayouk family home in Al-Fukhari, east of Khan Younis. Two others were killed in a separate strike on the Al-Mawasi area west of the city.
Meantime, rescue teams recovered the body of a member of the Al-Masri family from beneath the rubble of their destroyed home in Jorat Al-Lout, also in Khan Younis.
In another strike on Khan Younis refugee camp, two people were killed and two others injured when the Al-Araj family home was targeted by Israeli airstrikes. A woman also died from wounds she sustained in an earlier Israeli airstrike on western Khan Younis.
In Gaza City, four Palestinians were killed and others wounded in a strike on a group of civilians in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. A second strike near the Al-Sanafur intersection in the same neighborhood killed four women, including a young girl.
In Rafah, southern Gaza, seven Palestinians were killed and more than 60 injured in a strike that targeted a gathering of civilians in the western part of the city.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 53,901 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 122,593 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
