Cabinet holds meeting in Tulkarm; PM affirms government continues efforts to alleviate residents' suffering

RAMALLAH, May 12, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa affirmed that the Palestinian government is continuing its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, renewing its pledge to stand by the citizens "until the Israeli occupation ends and the land is returned to its owners."

Chairing a cabinet meeting in Tulkarm on Monday morning, Mustafa said, "We meet today in Tulkarm with our hearts heavy with the memory of the Nakba, which is only three days away, and whose chapters and contemporary evidence are being renewed, including killing, displacement, and hunger in various parts of the homeland, in Gaza and other areas in the West Bank."

He added, "But we are also filled with hope that this occupation and aggression will end, that the land will be returned to its owners, and that dignity will return to our people."

The Prime Minister indicated that the Cabinet's visit to Tulkarm carries a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to the people of the governorate: "We are with you, and we will do everything possible to lift this grief from our people in the governorate, in cooperation with all national and popular institutions and UNRWA, to rectify this difficult situation."

Mustafa explained that a preparatory meeting preceded the government session, bringing together partner institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce, the security services, the municipality, and the popular committees in the camps.

During the meeting, the greetings and thanks of President Mahmoud Abbas were conveyed, as well as the government's thanks for their positions, steadfastness, and solidarity, as well as for the collective work that alleviated the suffering of Palestinian people in Tulkarm.

He noted that they were also informed of the government's readiness to work with them, in coordination with everyone, starting with the governor, to implement relief programs, emergency programs, employment, and reconstruction.

In addition to what has been accomplished so far, there will be new programs for various sectors, including health, agriculture, roads, housing, employment programs, and other measures to support the private sector, which, like other sectors, has been subjected to destruction and economic hardship.

Concluding his remarks, Mustafa emphasized that the government will continue its efforts and is currently discussing further measures it can take to overcome the exceptional circumstances. He emphasized that goodness will prevail in Tulkarm Governorate and the nation in all its governorates.
