OIC strongly condemns Israeli's deliberate targeting of journalists’ tent in Gaza

RAMALLAH, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli occupation forces' targeting of a journalists' tent in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of one journalist and the injury of several others.

In a statement, the OIC slammed this targeting as a flagrant violation of freedom of the press and media and an extension of the Israeli occupation's policies aimed at confiscating the truth, voices, covering up its crimes, and preventing them from reaching international public opinion.

It held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the deaths of more than 210 journalists and media professionals since the beginning of the genocidal crime waged by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip.

It further reiterated its call for the International Criminal Court to complete the investigation into all crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power, against civilians, including journalists and media professionals who are subjected to deliberate killing, arbitrary arrest, and physical assaults in connection with their journalistic work.

The OIC also called on relevant international institutions, particularly UNESCO, to take all possible measures to ensure the prosecution of criminals and to provide the necessary protection for press freedom and the safety of journalists working in the occupied Palestinian territory, in accordance with international humanitarian law and relevant international agreements.
