ADDIS ABABA, February 15, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met today with President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, on the sidelines of the 38th African Union Summit held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Palestine. President Abbas strongly reaffirmed the rejection of any plans or attempts aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their homeland, whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or East Jerusalem. He emphasized that such actions violate international law and UN resolutions.
President Abbas also stressed the importance of coordinated Arab efforts to adopt a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza with the presence of its residents. He stressed the need to uphold the Arab Peace Initiative at the upcoming emergency Arab summit, reaffirming that the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their homeland and that "Palestine is not for sale".
The Palestinian leader expressed deep appreciation for the strong bonds of brotherhood between Palestine and the Comoros. He also commended the Comorian government’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to end Israeli occupation and achieve freedom, independence, and self-determination.
