RAMALLAH, February 10, 2025 (WAFA) – A grant contract for the “Project for the Reinforcement of the Electricity Network in Sanerya” was signed today between Araike Katsuhiko, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, and the representative of Sanerya village council.
The grant, amounting to $126,500, will support the installation of a 630 kVA transformer, and the extension of a 1,250 meters high voltage line to be connected with the existing transformers in order to secure a stable electricity supply throughout the village, said a press release issued by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine.
The project aims to provide a stable power supply to approximately 200 households (1,000 people), as well as a local school and clinic, reducing power outages and ensuring reliable water access for agricultural purposes.
The enhancement will benefit around 3,250 residents, significantly improving their overall living conditions.
The Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine congratulated the representatives of Sanerya village council and wished them success in the project. He emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people through human security initiatives and the implementation of essential social and economic development projects for Palestinian communities.
Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately 2.6 billion USD, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority since 2010.
