RAMALLAH, January, 20, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed the importance of working on early recovery and restoring basic services in the Gaza Strip, in addition to relief and humanitarian efforts, in coordination with international institutions to bring in as much as possible of needs to the Strip.
This came during his meeting with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Palestine, Muhannad Hadi today in his office in Ramallah, in the presence of Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan, Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, and Minister of Local Government Sami Hijjawi.
The Prime Minister briefed the UN Coordinator on the government's plan for relief, early recovery and emergency response to the Gaza Strip, which it prepared several months ago, and the updates that are being worked on after the aggression stopped, determining work priorities during the next six months, working on establishing the Independent Authority for the Reconstruction of Gaza, and preparing to hold an international donor conference for reconstruction in coordination with donor countries and relevant international institutions.
He stressed the importance of coordinating work and joint efforts between UN agencies and the government emergency operations room for the Gaza Strip, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of relief and early recovery plans in the Strip, and working with the Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with the Red Crescent and international relief organizations to distribute aid in the Strip.
For his part, the UN Coordinator reviewed the efforts made to bring in 600 aid trucks daily, including fuel, into the Gaza Strip, and coordinate their distribution with the institutions of the State of Palestine in all areas of the Strip, and work to secure tents and temporary shelters for the displaced, stressing the full cooperation and coordination of UN agencies with the institutions of the State of Palestine in relief, early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Strip.
