NABLUS, January 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Friday evening killed a Palestinian teenager and injured nine others in Balata refugee camp, east of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to the Health Ministry.
The Ministry said that Mohammad Medhat Amin Amer, 18, succumbed to his injury after being shot by Israeli forces in the course of a raid into the camp.
It added that the occupation forces shot and injured nine others, including four who were in serious condition. The casualties were rushed to nearby hospitals.
The occupation forces barged their way into the refugee camp and deployed snipers on the rooftops of several buildings.
The snipers opened gunfire towards the residents in the camp, killing Amer and resulting in the nine aforementioned casualties.
The soldiers prevented ambulances from entering the refugee camp to evacuate the casualties.
Israeli occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which also take place in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
