Israeli forces erect checkpoint in Jericho

JERICHO, January 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Wednesday erected a flying checkpoint in the downtown part of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to security sources.

They said that the occupation forces stormed the city and set up a checkpoint at the beginning of the Banks Street, obstructing the movement of Palestinian-registered vehicles.

In the course of the raid, the forces broke into and ransacked a money exchange shop.

Israel severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
