Egypt condemns Israel’s systematic targeting of Gaza's health sector

CAIRO, December 29, 2024 (WAFA) – Egypt condemned on Sunday the Israeli occupation's ongoing brutal and systematic attacks on Gaza’s health infrastructure, including the recent targeting of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a gross violation of international norms and conventions, to be added to the growing list of Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

These actions are in clear contradiction to international conventions and Israel's responsibilities as the occupying power, said the ministry in a statement.

Egypt warned that such shameful actions are aimed at forcing the population of northern Gaza to flee and making the area uninhabitable, calling for the activation of international accountability mechanisms.

It urged the international community and the UN Security Council to take decisive steps to end these violations, which not only constitutes serious and blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law, but also poses a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.

Egypt also reiterated its firm opposition to any attempts to forcibly displace Gaza’s residents, calling for an immediate end to the senseless war, the cessation of such inhumane practices and the removal of obstacles to ensure the adequate and sustainable relief of hundreds of thousands of Gaza's residents.
