Multiple civilian casualties in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis

GAZA, December 28, 2024 (WAFA) – Multiple Palestinians were killed and several others injured this evening in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis, marking another deadly escalation in the ongoing Israeli genocide.

In Gaza City, two Palestinians, Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Khatib and Mahmoud Mohammed Al-Areini, were killed when Israeli warplanes targeted a group of civilians on Al-Jalaa Street in the western part of the city. Several others were wounded in the attack.

Israeli airstrikes also targeted a house in Jabalia, located in the northern Gaza Strip, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The northern region of Gaza has experienced severe bombardment in recent days, contributing to the rising death toll.

In southern Gaza, a number of civilians were injured when Israeli planes hit a house in the Qizan Al-Najjar area, south of Khan Younis.

Medical sources reported that at least 36 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since the early hours of today, with the majority of casualties in the northern parts of the Strip.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for residents in northern Gaza, including Beit Hanoun, as part of its ongoing military offensive. These measures are part of the broader campaign of destruction and displacement that has included a siege on hospitals and the bombing of medical facilities. This includes the recent destruction and burning of the Kamal Adwan Hospital on Friday.

Since October 5, Israeli occupation forces have escalated their attacks in northern Gaza, imposing a brutal blockade on food, water, and medical supplies, while continuing heavy airstrikes and ground assaults on civilian areas.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 45,484 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 108,090 others injured.

Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.

Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
