GAZA, December, 26, 2024 (WAFA) – Director of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, Fadl Al-Naeem, said that the hospital is witnessing a significant surge in the number of wounded and injured due to the escalation in Gaza City and the northern governorate, especially in southern and northern Jabalia.
Al-Naeem said in a statement to Voice of Palestine Radio that most of the cases arriving at the hospital suffer from serious injuries, which increases the challenges in light of the severe shortage of basic medical supplies such as gauze, surgical sutures and some necessary medications.
He pointed out that blood donation, despite the ongoing appeals, faces difficulties due to the spread of anemia and malnutrition among citizens, explaining that dealing with serious injuries requires interventions from multiple medical specialties, with the increasing number of emergency cases.
Al-Naeem confirmed that the hospital is working in coordination with other hospitals, but the available capabilities in the northern Gaza Strip are not sufficient to accommodate the increasing numbers of injured, stressing the need to open the crossings urgently to transfer critical cases outside the Gaza Strip to receive appropriate treatment.
