SALFIT, December 8, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists destroyed an agricultural room today in the village of Farkha, in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit, causing significant damage to the property, according to local sources.
Mustafa Hammad, head of the Farkha Village Council, told WAFA that a group of colonists targeted a structure owned by local resident Fayeq Rizqallah, located to the west of the village. The colonists broke into the room, damaged its contents, and stole various items.
Hammad stressed that these acts of vandalism are part of a broader pattern of harassment and land appropriation in the area. He connected the attack to the new colonial outpost that was established approximately two months ago on village lands.
The new outpost, an extension of the nearby Ariel settlement, is being constructed on land covering nearly 1,250 dunums. With the protection of Israeli forces, the colonists have already begun building infrastructure, bringing in construction materials and mobile homes to establish a permanent presence.
The area being seized is surrounded by about 800 dunums of olive groves, which are vital to the local economy, and contains a spring that provides about 40% of the water supply for the village. Additionally, a Bedouin community in the area is facing the threat of forced displacement due to the expansion of settlement activity.
