NABLUS, Monday, August 5, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Monday detained three Palestinians and set fire to parts of the central vegetable market during a raid into of the eastern area of the city of Nablus.
Local and security sources reported to WAFA that large forces of the occupation army accompanied by a military bulldozer stormed the eastern area of the city, and deployed in the vicinity of Joseph's Tomb, under the pretext of securing the settlers' storming of the tomb, which led to the outbreak of confrontations in the area.
The same sources indicated that the occupation forces fired tear gas bombs intensively in the area, while the occupation bulldozer deliberately dragged burning tires in the street into the central vegetable market, which led to the outbreak of fire in parts of it and caused significant damage.
They indicated that the occupation forces obstructed the work of the firefighting crews and fired tear gas bombs at them, which led to four of them suffering from suffocation, despite that, they were able to control the fire that affected two warehouses inside the market.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that it dealt with four journalists suffered from suffocation during the occupation forces' storming of the city of Nablus, and were treated.
In the same context, the occupation forces detained Izz al-Din al-Shakhshir from the Balata al-Balad area, after raiding his house, searching it and tampering with its contents.
Shortly after withdrawing, the occupation forces stormed Nablus again from Jabal al-Tur area, raided several houses in the old city of the city, and detained two people.
