Israeli forces detain dozens of Palestinians during military raid on Beit Ummar near Hebron

HEBRON, July 16, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained dozens of Palestinians on Thursday during a military raid on the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.

Media activist Muhammad Awad told WAFA that Israeli forces stormed Beit Ummar, raided and searched several homes, and ransacked their contents before detaining more than 30 members of the Awad family.

The detainees were then transferred to an Israeli military camp inside the settlement of Karmei Tzur, built on Palestinian land south of the town.

Israeli forces also intensified their repressive measures against the town's residents, blocking the only remaining road leading into the town with earth mounds. This followed their earlier closure of all other entrances to the town, preventing residents from leaving or reaching their workplaces.
