NABLUS, Tuesday, September 5, 2023 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation forces today delivered 50 notices for demolition and returning the land to what it was on in the village of Duma, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, according to Suleiman Dawabsha, head of Duma village council.
He told WAFA that staff from the so-called Civil Administration, an arm of the Israeli military government, accompanied by soldiers, stormed the eastern and southern areas of the village and distributed 50 notices, including one to demolish an agricultural room and another to bulldoze a newly opened street, while the rest of the notices stipulated the return of lands that had been reclaimed by their owners to what they used to be.
He pointed out that the occupation authorities claim that these lands are state property and are located in Area C, classified according to the Oslo Accords, stressing that all the lands that have been notified are private property and their owners have documents proving their ownership.
The Ministry of Local Government said these notifications are illegal and in violation of international norms and conventions because they deny the owners of the lands the right to use them in any way they like, which is a basic right guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees them protection from eviction and displacement.
