Palestinians suffer tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces and colonists target olive harvesters near Nablus

NABLUS, October 17, 2026 (WAFA) —  Several Palestinians suffered from tear gas inhalation on Saturday after Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters at farmers and prevented them from reaching their lands in the village of Salem, east of Nablus.

Medical sources reported that ambulance crews treated several people suffering from breathing difficulties after inhaling the gas.

Meanwhile, Israeli colonists attacked olive harvesters east of the village of Burin, south of Nablus, assaulting them and stealing olive crops and equipment while firing live ammunition in the area.

In the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus, colonists cut down and destroyed dozens of olive trees in the al-Sahl area. The attack coincided with Israeli forces raiding the town’s eastern area, assaulting olive harvesters and detaining several families.

Beit Furik Mayor Yousef Hannani said several residents sustained fractures and bruises after being chased by Israeli forces. A woman also lost consciousness, and the injured were taken to the town’s medical center.

In a related incident, colonists attacked olive harvesters in the villages of Osarin, Lubban al-Sharqiya and Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus, forcing them to leave their lands.
