BRUSSELS, October 17, 2026 (WAFA) – The European Council has called on Israel to immediately reverse its decisions to expand colonization and promptly withdraw its construction tender for the E1 area in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement issued following its summit, the Council warned companies and financial institutions against participating in the E1 colonial project or any other colonization activities.
It stressed that business involvement could expose them to legal, economic and reputational consequences, in addition to constituting a violation of international law.
The Council stressed that the E1 project, which extends from the Ma'ale Adumim colony, severely undermines geographical contiguity between Ramallah, East Jerusalem and Bethlehem, thereby obstructing the establishment of an independent and geographically contiguous Palestinian state.
