BRUSSELS, October 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot condemned colonists’ attack on European diplomats in the village of al-Taybeh, northeast of Ramallah, and called for those responsible to be held accountable.

In a post on X, Prévot affirmed that Belgium would continue to push for European Union sanctions against those involved in acts of violence and their supporters.

He said violence targeting diplomats was linked to Israel’s illegal colonization policy, stressing that Belgium condemns colonization expansion and attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands.

Prévot stressed that the Israeli authorities, as the occupying power, are responsible for protecting Palestinians and ensuring the safety of diplomats and journalists, as well as bringing those responsible for the attacks to justice.

He concluded by emphasizing the need to end the impunity enjoyed by colonists involved in acts of violence.
