CAIRO, Thursday, May 4, 2023 (WAFA) – Umm Nasser Abu Hamid, the mother of late Palestinian freedom fighters Nasser and Abdel-Moneim Abu Hmeid, has been awarded the Medal of the Ideal Woman at the Seventh International Festival for the Ideal Mother, held in the Egyptian city of Luxor.
The festival, organized by Luxor University, was held in the Karnak Temple Complex, with participation from Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Tunisia, Malaysia, Singapore and England.
Umm Nasser Abu Hamid was born in the village of Abu Shusha, Ramla District, in 1945. She’s the mother of two martyrs and five prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons. Her son, Abdel Moneim, was murdered by Israeli occupation forces in 1994. Her second son, Nasser, died last year while in Israeli imprisonment as a result of the Israeli policy of deliberate medical negligence.
Four of Umm Nasser’s children are also serving life sentences in Israeli prisons. In addition, her house has been demolished by the Israeli occupation forces in Al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah five times.
