RAMALLAH, Monday, May 1, 2023 (WAFA) – The ministry of foreign affairs and expatriates announced the completion of the evacuation efforts of Palestinians in Sudan as a result of Sudan’s sudden slide into conflict between the army and a paramilitary group called Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Political adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ahmad al-Deek, said the last evacuation convoys have successfully left Sudan heading to Port Sudan. A plane carrying a group of Palestinians, including military students, who arrived in Jeddah has also taken off towards Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan heading to Palestine later today.
He added that the second group of Palestinians that headed towards the Arqin land crossing between Sudan and Egypt has arrived safely to the crossing. He stated that staff from the Palestinian embassy in Cairo is doing all the necessary arrangements for their entry in full cooperation, coordination and significant facilitations from our brothers in Egypt.
The second group will be transferred in buses provided by the Palestinian embassy in Cairo on the way to Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt returning home to Gaza, said the ministry in a statement.
