RAMALLAH, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said today that buses carrying students and others from the Gaza Strip took off this morning from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, toward the border crossing with Egypt in order to bring them home.

Ahmed al-Deek, a Foreign Ministry official, said three buses carrying 130 students and approximately 60 other citizens left Khartoum heading to the border crossing with Egypt, and from there they will be taken directly to the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip to return home.

He added that the Palestinian embassy in Riyadh, the consulate general in Jeddah, and the embassy in Amman have completed the procedures to receive the second batch of evacuees.

He pointed out that a fourth bus carrying about 54 residents from the Gaza Strip will head during the day to Port Sudan, noting that the first group that went to Port Sudan has arrived there and will leave it for Jeddah on its way to Jordan.

The evacuation started following the intensification in the war between the two army generals ruling Sudan.
