Newspapers Review: Israeli army killing of a Palestinian boy in Jericho highlight of dailies

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 (WAFA) – The Israeli army killing yesterday of a 15-year-old Palestinian boy during a raid of Aqbat Jabr refugee camp in the eastern West Bank city of Jericho was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

They also said that thousands of Israeli settlers, including cabinet members and parliamentarians from right-wing parties, stormed Jabal Sabih, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, seeking to force their government to legalize Aviatar settlement.

They said over 200 Palestinians were hurt, most from tear gas or rubber bullets, in the confrontations that broke out between Palestinian youths protesting the presence of the settlers in Jabal Sabih and the soldiers protecting the settlers.

Al-Ayyam daily said Israeli forces and settlers broke into areas in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates in the south of the West Bank and that confrontations broke out. Several people were hurt by tear gas or rubber bullets fired by soldiers.

Al-Quds daily said more than 1500 Jewish fanatics stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday under heavy police and army protection.

The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, quoted the presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh saying that despite the settlers storming Palestinian areas, it does not change the fact that his land is Palestinian.

It said the Palestinian cabinet in its meeting in Ramallah yesterday called on the Ministry of Education to do what is necessary to ensure the continuation of the school year in light of the teachers’ strike.
