Weather: Low-pressure cold front affects Palestine bringing temperature down and heavy rain

RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 18, 2023 (WAFA) – A low-pressure cold front is expected to affect Palestine today causing temperature to plummet and paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy and relatively cold conditions in the daytime, particularly in the mountains, and cold conditions in the night. Sporadic rain showers are expected mainly in the north, gradually intensifying during the night and spreading to the centeral and southern districts, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are southwesterly to westerly, moderate to active, and sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 7°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 15°C and a low of 6°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 25°C and a low of 13°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 21°C and a low of 10°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

The low-pressure cold front continues to affect the region tomorrow, Sunday, causing the temperature to further plummet and approach 5°C below the seasonal average and paving the way to cloudy and cold conditions, particularly in the mountains. Sporadic rain, thunderstorms, and possibly hail are expected in most districts.

A further drop in temperature is expected on Monday to become 7°C below the seasonal average as the cold and rainy conditions continue to prevail, particularly in the mountains. Sporadic rain showers, thunderstorms, and hail are expected during the day.

A rise in temperature is expected for Tuesday, but remains 3°C below the seasonal average with a chance of sporadic rain in some districts, said the PMD, which warned people against flash floods in low areas and valleys, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility.
