BUDAPEST, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 (WAFA) – The state of Palestine occupied a spot in one of the most prominent European museums by handing over two copies of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, and the Holy Bible as a contribution from the State of Palestine to the Museum of Ethnography in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

The Holy Quran, which will be part of the museum's collection, was donated in the name of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and the Bible is a gift from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

“The valuable publications were handed over to Dr. Lajos Kemecsi, Director General of the Ethnographic Museum, at a ceremony on 24 October by Fadi Elhusseini, Ambassador of Palestine to Hungary,” said a tweet posted by the museum.

The Palestinian ambassador said that this contribution to the Museum of Ethnography is in line with our deep belief that museums have a mission to carry a noble message of culture, and this contribution is nothing but a continuation of a rich history of deep-rooted relations between Palestine and Hungary.

For his part, the museum's general manager said the Museum of Ethnography constantly treats its international relations with high priority. In addition to scientific cooperation, traveling exhibitions, and conferences, diplomatic relations are also of great importance for the museum, he said.
