AL-BIREH, July 28, 2026 (WAFA) – The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced on Tuesday the opening of online voter registration for new voters through its official website, calling on all eligible citizens aged 17 and above to register in the voters' roll in preparation for the upcoming legislative elections.
The commission said that registration in the voters' roll is one of the fundamental requirements for participating in the legislative elections, noting that the online registration process is simple, quick, and can be completed within minutes.
It explained that online registration is available only to citizens who are not already registered in the voters' roll. Requests to update personal information, change residential addresses, or transfer polling stations must be submitted in person at voter registration centers, which will operate in all cities, towns, and refugee camps across the West Bank governorates from August 15 to 19.
The commission stressed that registration in the voters' roll is mandatory for participation in the elections, whether as a voter or a candidate.
Regarding Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip and occupied Jerusalem, the commission affirmed that their right to vote and stand for election remains fully guaranteed and does not require prior registration in the voters' roll. It added that the mechanisms and procedures governing their participation in the electoral process will be announced at a later date.
