RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 (WAFA) – The Israeli military siege and collective punishment imposed on the northern West Bank city of Nablus for two weeks was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
They said that a Palestinian cabinet delegation made up of five ministers visited Nablus yesterday to inspect the situation in light of the siege and to listen to people there about their immediate needs.
The three dailies - al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam, and al-Quds - also reported on the meeting yesterday between President Mahmoud Abbas and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Ramallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the President urged Holland to amend the partnership agreement with the European Union, while al-Quds said the President briefed Rutte on the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people.
The dailies also covered the visit of Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh to Indonesia and quoted him saying that he hopes the G20 summit that will be held in Bali, Indonesia, in the middle of November will recognize the State of Palestine.
Al-Ayyam said three Palestinians from Gaza and another, a refugee from Syria, drowned when their boat capsized off the Tunisian coast as they were trying to immigrate to Europe, while three others are still missing.
Al-Quds published a report by the Chinese news agency on the struggle of the Palestinian olive harvesters in the West Bank who have to endure attacks by settlers and restrictions by the Israeli army.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported on the Israeli airstrikes in Syria and the election of a new prime minister in the United Kingdom, as well as the latest in the Ukraine war.
