RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 24, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 13 Palestinians and injured three others in multiple raids across the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after breaking into and searching his family house in Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah.

During ensuing confrontations, the soldiers opened fire towards local teens who protested the raid. No injuries were reported though.

In the northern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles stormed Jenin city, where the soldiers detained three others and ransacked the houses of their families.

While in the city, the soldiers forcibly entered the family house of a former prisoner and threatened to detain the father as a means to coerce the son into turning himself to the military.

The sources confirmed a similar raid in Nablus city, where the soldiers stormed and searched several houses and interrogated their occupants.

Another was detained from Iktaba neighborhood, east of Tulkarm.

In Tubas district, the gun-toting soldiers showed up at two houses in Wadi al-Far'a village, southwest of the city, muscled in, conducted a thorough search and eventually rounded up two brothers.

In the southern West Bank, a sizable military force barged its way into Dheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, triggering violent confrontations.

The heavily-armed soldiers fired concussion grenades, tear gas canisters and live ammunition, injuring three young men by live ammunition in the chest and feet.

The casualties were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Scores of soldiers surrounded at least three houses in the camp, sent inside and ransacked them, turning them upside down, before ultimately arresting three others.

Still in the southern West Bank, the sources confirmed a raid in Hebron city, resulting in the detention of another.

The soldiers conducted a similar predawn raid in Sa‘ir town, northeast of the city, resulting in the detention of two others.

On Wednesday evening, Israeli forces rounded up three others; two residents of Jenin refugee camp, who were detained after being stopped at a checkpoint near Burqa village, northwest of Nablus, and minor from the Old City of Jerusalem.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
