JERUSALEM, Monday, September 06, 2021 (WAFA) – The remains of a Jordanian soldier who was killed during the June 1967 Arab-Israeli war and recently discovered in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem were buried at a Jerusalem graveyard where Jordanian soldiers killed in the war were also buried.
A funeral held for the un-identified soldier, whose remains were placed in a coffin draped with the Jordanian flag, was attended by an official Jordanian delegation, including senior army officers, as well as officials from the Jordanian government-run Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem.
After holding prayers on the dead soldiers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, he was buried at the Martyrs’ Cemetery outside the wall of the Old City of Jerusalem.
The remains were discovered during construction work at Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which was captured by the Israeli army during the early days of the June 1967 war.
