CAIRO, January 10, 2012 (WAFA) - Fouad al-Shobaki, director of the Palestinian Customs and VAT department, Tuesday told WAFA that Palestine is ready to join the World Custom Organization (WCO).
Shobaki stressed that Palestine runs risk management, special customs program, customs courts and auditing process, as well as improved remarkably during in the customs field in the past two years, which will support “ our efforts to join this international organization.”
He said the general customs executives of the Northern Africa, Near and Middle East region agreed to support the Palestinian request of membership in WCO; meanwhile the Arab League Secretary-General agreed to consider the legal status and necessary steps required for the membership application.
