BETHLEHEM, June 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists launched drones toward Palestinian shepherds in the village of Al-Minya, southeast of Bethlehem, on Monday, sparking fear among residents and threatening the village’s primary source of livelihood, according to local officials.
Zayed Kawazba, head of the Al-Minya village council, said the colonists flew the unmanned drones directly over herders as they grazed their livestock near the village. “This is a direct threat to both the shepherds and their animals,” he said.
Al-Minya is a small Palestinian village that depends heavily on livestock herding, with approximately 5,000 sheep and goats forming the backbone of its local economy.
Kawazba described the drone incident as part of a broader pattern of colonist intimidation, which includes chasing shepherds off their grazing land, assaulting them, and in some cases, stealing livestock. “
He called on international human rights organizations to step in and provide protection for the residents.
